Indiana Lawyer Spotlights Stuart & Branigin’s Indianapolis Office

Lafayette, Indiana – March 2005 – Stuart & Branigin LLP is one of two law firms featured in an Indiana Lawyer article about established Indiana law firms opening offices in the state capital. Lafayette-based Stuart & Branigin, which established its Indianapolis office in 2000, serves clients throughout the state and nation.

The article quotes Stuart & Branigin attorney John M. Stuckey on why the firm decided to expand to the capital city. “‘ Indianapolis is the business center of the state, it is the economic center of the state, it is the cultural center of the state,’ Stuckey said. ‘It makes natural sense that any firm might want to have an office here, but I think we got to the point that the business interests of our clients were such that we really needed to have an office here to continue to do the things for them that we had been doing.’”

The distance from the firm’s main Lafayette office was far enough to warrant the expansion, yet not too far to commute back and forth, the article explains. “‘I think they (clients) appreciate us being here and ready to do what they need done here,’ Stuckey said. ‘We are really only talking about 60 miles.’ Lawyers frequently travel back and forth between offices, he said, to provide a specific expertise.”

The article also points to technology as helping bridge the geographic gap between the offices. “Communication between offices is key to making a satellite office run effectively…, [Stuckey] said. Cell phones, videoconferencing, and technologies that facilitate document transfer between offices allow lawyers to serve clients, regardless of location.”
