Karen Orr Witnesses Signing of Indiana House Bill 1306

Lafayette, Indiana – July 14, 2006 – Lafayette attorney Karen R. Orr recently appeared with other members of the Business Law Survey Commission to witness Governor Mitch Daniels signing House Bill 1306 into law. The legislation amended the Indiana Code concerning corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies (LLCs) to help Indiana businesses remain competitive.

Orr, a partner with the firm of Stuart & Branigin, was appointed to the commission by Governor Joseph Kernan in 2004. The 14-member commission considers recommendations to the Indiana General Assembly concerning amendments to Indiana corporation, LLC, and partnership laws. It also considers new or additional legislation that could affect corporations, LLCs, partnerships, or other business entities authorized to do business in the state.

A 1989 graduate of the Indiana University School of Law, Orr practices in the areas of business and corporate law, contracting, health care law, and education law. Her local volunteer activities include serving on the board of Leadership Lafayette and on the personnel committee of the Tippecanoe Community Health Clinic. She is also a board member for the Indiana State Bar Association.
