FELLOWS OF INDIANA BAR FOUNDATION HONOR LAFAYETTE ATTORNEY WITH 2007 LEGENDARY LAWYER AWARD

Lafayette, Indiana – September 21, 2007 – Russell H. Hart, retired senior counsel of the Lafayette law firm Stuart & Branigin LLP, was honored as the 2007 Legendary Lawyer Award recipient by the Fellows of the Indiana Bar Foundation on September 21, 2007.

A practicing attorney for 51 years, Hart was selected based upon his demonstrated adherence to the highest principles and traditions of the legal profession and compassion though service to his community. As a result of these traits, Hart has remained an involved member of several law related groups throughout his professional career and into his retirement. As an active member of the Indiana State Bar Association, Hart served as president, treasurer, chairman of the Trial Lawyers Section, and as a member of the Board of Governors. He is also a former vice president and secretary of the Indiana Bar Foundation as well as a Fellow. Other related organizations of which he has been involved include the American Bar Association, member of the House of Delegates; the Civil Justice Reform Advisory Group for the Northern District of Indiana; and the Academy of Law Alumni Fellows of Indiana University-Bloomington's School of Law.

Hart also served as president of the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana, the Tippecanoe County Bar Association and the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel. Additionally, Hart is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and the International Society of Barristers.

For his continued service to the community, Hart has received numerous honors including being named a Sagamore of the Wabash. The Tippecanoe County Bar Association also adopted a Resolution in Honor of Russell Holiday Hart in honor of his fifty years in practice.

The Fellows of the Indiana Bar Foundation, founded in 1979, is a membership group of attorneys throughout Indiana recognized for their dedication to the legal profession, support of access to justice for all Hoosiers, involvement in and contributions to the legal community and the community at large and demonstrated integrity and character.
