PENNELL AWARDED THE EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE CITATION BY DRI

Lafayette, Indiana – December, 2004 - Stephen R. Pennell, a partner with the Lafayette law firm of Stuart & Branigin, was awarded the Exceptional Performance Citation by DRI, the national organization of defense trial lawyers and corporate counsel.  Pennell also received the Fred H. Sievert Award which is given to the president of a state defense organization who has made the most significant contribution to advance the goals and objectives of the organized defense bar in the nation.

The Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana is an organization of over 750 defense attorneys in Indiana and as president in 2004, Pennell developed a scholarly publication, the Indiana Civil Litigation Review. He also instituted a statewide writing contest for law students, established a scholarship fund for the winning authors, commenced an educational program which included business leaders, established a program promoting attorney civility and provided a vehicle for distinguished defense attorneys to share their experiences with other members.
